Brad Pitt is an American actor and manufacturer. He has obtained a Golden Globe Award.

Brad Pitt spent his youth in Springfield, Missouri, before continuing his studies at Columbia University where he earned a degree in journalism. He then moved to Los Angeles and took drama lessons in Roy London's studio. His natural ease and charisma open the doors of television to him. We see him in series such as 21 Jump Street (1987) or TV films like Too Young to Die (1990, with Juliette Lewis, who will be his companion for the following three years.

At the same time, he made his film debut in Neige Sur Beverly Hills (1987), then in the romantic comedy Happy together (1989). A chance then offered to him: William Baldwin having given up on Thelma and Louise, he inherited in 1991 the brief, but the capital role of the irresistible hitchhiker who robs Geena Davis.

From then on, Brad Pitt alternated the original companies ( Johnny Suede, Cool world ), with lyrical and romantic works. Under the direction of Robert Redford, he thus embodies the brother of the hero of And in the middle flows a river(1992), nature lover and cast fishing artist but promised an untimely death. He also played Anthony Hopkins ' favourite son in Edward Zwick's Legends of the Fall (1994), a role for which he earned a Golden Globe nomination.

He is finally the half-consenting victim and the wandering companion of Tom Cruise in Interview with a Vampire (1994) by Neil Jordan. Moreover, he tries to break his image as a young romantic first by taking jobs that are much less attractive but allowing him to explore other facets of his talent: the shaggy and filthy serial killer of Kalifornia.

(1993), the True Romance junkie (1993) or the mad ecologist of The Army of 12 Monkeys (1995). His constant quest for greater complexity leads him to refuse certain roles that he considers too schematic, such as The Saint (ultimately fell to Val Kilmer ), in favour of characters allowing him to express darker aspects of his personality...

Seven (1995), by David Fincher, which he shoots with his new partner Gwyneth Paltrow, makes him a fearless and determined policeman, but easily manipulated by a diabolical assassin. In Sleepers (1996) by Barry Levinson, he is a young and brilliant assistant to the prosecutor who orchestrates his revenge against his former prison guards. Then, facing Harrison Ford, he plays an IRA terrorist in Close Enemies (1997).

Subsequently, Jean-Jacques Annaud imagines him as Heinrich Harrar, the Austrian mountaineer whose life was transformed by his Seven Years in Tibet (1997) and his meeting with the Dalai Lama. This role earned him a ban from entering China. The following year, Martin Brest asked him to play Death itself, opposite Anthony Hopkins, in Meet Joe Black. Brad Pitt then reunites with David Fincher for a very controversial film, Fight Club (1999) with Edward Norton, for which his salary reached 20 million dollars.

After Snatch (2000) and Spy game (2001), he reunites with Julia Roberts, his Mexican partner, in Ocean's eleven (2001), a film that marks his entry into the circle of Steven Soderbergh and George Clooney, and its sequels ( Ocean's 12, Ocean's 13 ). Appeared in the blink of an eye in the first realization of the latter, Confessions of a dangerous man, Brad Pitt returned in 2004 to the front of the cinematographic scene by playing the role of the warrior Achilles in the epic Troy fresco.

On the set of the action film Mr and Mrs Smith (2005), he met Angelina Jolie, with whom he now forms one of the most publicized couples on the planet. He did not forget his acting career, however, and in 2007 won the Volpi Cup for Best Actor in Venice for his portrayal of Jesse James in The Assassination of Jesse James by Andrew Dominik. He then distinguished himself by alternating genres: from comedy with Burn After Reading by the Coen brothers to fantasy with The Strange Story of Benjamin Button, where he finds David Fincher for the third time.

Decidedly attracting prestigious directors, he was entrusted with one of the main roles of Quentin Tarantino's war film, Inglourious Basterds. Seven years after Sinbad for Dreamworks studios in 2003, he again lends his voice for an animated film, in the role of the sworn enemy of Megamind. In spring 2011, he starred in the highly anticipated The Tree of Life (Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival) by Terrence Malick where he played the authoritarian father of Sean Penn, then put on his baseball coach tracksuit for The Strategist.

At the end of 2012, Brad Pitt played the main character of the violent  Cogan: Killing Them Softly, a seasoned and pragmatic gangster. His following films once again testify to his eclecticism as he rubs shoulders with zombies in  World War Z, plays a seasoned soldier in Fury and engages in a romance with Marion Cotillard in Allies.

Brad Pitt is also the founder and now the sole owner of the production company Plan B Entertainment, founded in 2002. It has produced many films including Charlie and the Chocolate of Tim Burton (2004), The Departed by Martin Scorsese (2006),  Kick-Ass by Matthew Vaughn (2010) or even the Oscar winner 12 Years A Slave by Steve McQueen.
